An update from the Palisades Recovery Coalition (PRC):
A) Pacific Palisades Security Update
LAPD has coordinated a security plan for Pacific Palisades, designed to maintain public safety as checkpoint operations are phased out. Beginning 6:00 AM tomorrow (Saturday), Pacific Palisades will be patrolled by four LAPD vehicles, each staffed by two officers and overseen by a designated sector sergeant.
In addition, the Basic Car (A-Car) will remain in Pacific Palisades 24 hours a day, with no gaps between shifts. The beach detail will also continue patrol operations, rotating daily shift times to enhance visibility and support. This expanded patrol strategy is intended to ensure continuous, 24 hour around-the-clock coverage as a law enforcement as well as a deterrent strategy.
To further deter criminal activity, LAPD will deploy marked decoy vehicles throughout the community, strategically placed and rotated regularly. PRC has requested these decoys be outfitted with cameras to enhance their effectiveness as visible deterrents.
LAPD command is in contact with private security providers to encourage coordination and use of these teams as force multipliers. A dedicated email address— palisades@lapd.online—will be established for non-emergency community communication. As always, 911 remains available by phone or text for reporting emergencies.
Councilwoman Park remains actively involved and is leading efforts to advocate for continued support and resources tailored to the unique needs of Pacific Palisades during this recovery phase. The Palisades Recovery Coalition (PRC) has established a Community Advisory Group which convenes every Wednesday, bringing together LAPD leadership, local officials, and residents to review progress, address concerns, and adapt the security plan based on the needs of the community and feedback from all stakeholders.
More information will be shared by the Council Office, LAPD and other community groups.

D) Palisades Recovery Coalition, AIA volunteer architects, Resilient Palisades and RAND researchers led by Palisadian, Rob Lempert, will come together to present a visioning charrette for Pacific Palisades on June 28th, in person. Stay tuned for details.
E) Palisades Recovery Coalition will host City Attorney, Hydee Feldstein Soto, on July 8th, at 9:30 am by Zoom. We may also be joined by County Supervisor Lindsey Horvath. This will be one day after LAPD checkpoints are disbanded.
F) We have worked with the Council Office for a second time to help draft a survey for the Palisadians whose homes are still standing. Please take that survey here – and remember to join us at the Comeback Club, every 3rd Thursday of each month, at the American Legion.
G) Update from US ACE; Col Palazzini: Col Palazzini met with the residents at Will Rogers State Historic Park and shared with them the nature of the concrete crushing operations at the lower parking lot area. He assured them that the concrete being crushed is clean, that the dust is contained with moisture and not aerosolized, and that air quality monitors are deployed throughout the day to test for contaminants. The operation is safe and progressing swiftly, with a timeline for completion estimated at early fall, 2025. US ACE further advises that they have completed clearance in Tahitian Terrace and the Palisades YMCA. They will soon begin to clear commercial properties within 250 yards of schools, per direction from FEMA. Below are some additional results from Col Palazzini:
We removed over 36,000 tons of debris this past week and are currently
operating 35 debris removal crews throughout the Palisades Fire area. Our 5-day average for clearing sites is 14 per day. To date we have cleared debris from more than 3,485 properties. 3,202 of those properties have received final sign off and have been returned to the county. We anticipate our final workload to be less than 4,500 parcels. You’ll notice the contractor continues to slowly decrease crews as the number of available parcels to clear also decreases. This is a planned ramp down reflecting our historic pace of debris removal.
With enduring thanks to the community for engaging with us,
The Palisades Recovery Coalition
