June 21st – Stop-In Station, Visioning Charrette, Blue Ribbon Launch

Dear Pacific Palisades,

Heading into the weekend, we wanted to share key updates from the Palisades Recovery Coalition (PRC), highlighting recent progress and upcoming opportunities for community engagement:

๐Ÿš” A) LAPD Stop-In Station soon to be Operational
The LAPD Stop-In Station for Pacific Palisades has been finalized and is being outfitted with furniture and equipment this weekend. Officers are expected to begin using the space as their local base by mid-next week, marking a significant step forward for public safety in our community. Donations welcome. Contact us with interest.

๐Ÿ“˜ B) Blue Ribbon Commission Launch
The Blue Ribbon Commission on Wildfire Recovery unveiled its findings on Friday June 20th, at an event in Downtown Los Angeles. PRC President Maryam Zar was invited to speak as a panelist, where she highlighted the Palisadesโ€™ coordinated, community-driven recovery efforts. Her remarks emphasized the importance of collaborative planning, public engagement, and long-term resilience as we rebuild together.

๐ŸŽ–๏ธ C) Honoring Col. James Swenson (U.S. Army Corps of Engineers)
Colonel Swenson, who has led the Army Corpsโ€™ historic debris removal effort in our community, will complete his mission on July 3rd.

๐Ÿ—๏ธ D) Visioning Charrette โ€“ Rebuilding with Resilience
On Friday, June 28th from 10 AMโ€“12 PM, PRC will host the first in a series of neighborhood visioning charrettes at the American Legion. In partnership with RANDRed CrossAIA LAUCLA LuskinResilient Palisades, and others, this session will focus on the recovery of Marquez Knolls, one of the hardest-hit areas. All are welcome to participate in shaping a resilient future. Charettes are planned for all areas.

Please mark your calendars for Monday, July 8th at 9 AM (Zoom) when PRC hosts a virtual meeting with County Supervisor Lindsey Horvath and City Attorney Hydee Feldstein Soto. Donโ€™t miss this opportunity to engage directly with civic leadership.

๐Ÿ“„ F) PRC Is Now Official
We are proud to announce that PRC has formally filed Articles of Incorporation and is now fiscally sponsored by the California Community Foundation (CCF)โ€”a major step in becoming a permanent civic presence guiding Palisades recovery.

๐Ÿ›๏ธ G) June 23: Ad Hoc Committee on LA Recovery
The Ad Hoc Committee on the Los Angeles Recovery, chaired by Councilwoman Traci Park, will meet on June 23 at 1 PM at City Hall (Council Chambers). The Climate Resilience District (CRD) and the report back from EWDD will be discussed. Public comment is welcome. We encourage Palisadians to attend and speak in support of a bold, forward-looking recovery.

๐Ÿก H) The Comeback Club: Growing Momentum
The Comeback Club continues to grow. Last weekโ€™s discussion included the challenges as families return home while neighbors remain displaced and construction activity continues. We celebrated new and planned groundbreakings as well as ongoing remediation efforts. Our mission is clear: to support one another until every Palisadian is home again. We will keep meeting until our numbers grow from dozens to thousands.

Thank you for your continued engagement… Together, we will rebuild a stronger, more resilient Pacific Palisades.

With gratitude,
Maryam Zar and PRC Team
